Known for shaking up the spa industry with its fashionable yet practical therapist wear, Noel Asmar Uniforms is now entering the medi-spa and healthcare domain with the launch of its Asmar Scrubs collection.

“We elevated spa uniforms 20 years ago and since that time we’ve seen an evolution in the spa and wellness industry. We identified a shift as more medical-focused treatments are being offered and new approaches to wellness and self-care are emerging,” says Noel Asmar, founder and CEO of the Vancouver-based company.

Consisting of styles for men and women in an extensive size range (from XXS-3XL, including petites and a tall line), the tops and bottoms feature an ample number of well-placed pockets to keep essentials close at hand, badge tabs and reflective branding for safety.

"Scrub design is pretty standard in the US and yes we have tonnes of clever details", says Asmar, explaining that the three shades of green, mauve and blue have been specifically chosen for their healing qualities. "But our collection stands out in the technicality of its fabric and the fit – how the uniforms make you feel."

The uniforms have been "specifically made for the way a medical professional moves," she says. They're described as "comfortable, stretchy and breathable" and have a water-repellent finish to improve durability while being quick-drying and fade and pill-resistant.

They're also designed to be modern and flattering. "They will make anyone look and feel fantastic," says Asmar, adding that they can even be worn for leisure purposes, such as to the gym, before or after work.

As well as targeting the growing medi-spa industry in the US with its latest collection, Noel Asmar Uniforms also has its eyes set on the healthcare sector. Asmar says nurse practitioners are a primary market and that there will also be a strong focus on the dental profession.

While the company has an established reputation working with day spas, luxury beauty brands and high-end resort spa operators such Four Seasons, Marriott and Fairmont, the pandemic prompted this refocus.

Noel Asmar Uniforms quickly pivoted in 2020 by designing and producing reusable facemasks with a pocket for a disposable filter. The company also donated hundreds of spa uniforms to medical professionals at a care facility. "It was the catalyst for our design team to consider a scrubs collection that's Made For the Way You Move," says Asmar.

Beyond emphasising style and design, Noel Asmar Uniforms and the new scrubs collection also focuses on sustainability. EcoSoftMD, the material used to make the garments, is made from recycled water bottles which are crushed into pellets and then spun into fabric. And it’s been rigorously tested to ensure it’s free of harmful chemicals or components.

Customers can shop online at noelasmaruniforms.com or via the Noel Asmar Uniforms App, available for Apple and Android devices.
