Turfmech acquires Allett

Turfmech Machinery has announced its acquisition of the assets, trademarks and main product range of Allett Mowers.

The company, suppliers of professional walk-behind cylinder mowers and turf-care equipment, will be based at Turfmech's Hixon, Staffordshire, site and continue to trade as Allett Mowers.

A purpose-designed pedestrian mower production line is being established within the Hixon facility.

Commenting, Turfmech’s managing director, Austin Jarrett, said: "We have been closely involved with the professional turf and grounds maintenance industry for the past 17 years, supplying products such as precision top dressers, mowers and debris collection equipment to golf and sports clubs, stadiums and parks departments.

"Adding Allett walk-behind cylinder mowers and associated turf-care equipment to our portfolio will enable us to expand our involvement with and support for turf professionals looking after a wider range of sports surfaces, including those used for rugby, soccer, cricket, tennis and bowls.

"We will be aiming also to build Allett’s existing business among those caring for large formal lawns and similar areas of ornamental grass within public and private parks and gardens."

Turfmech will initially be offering a range of Allett machines, including the Regal 36in and 42in; the Buffalo 34; the Buffalo 20in, 24in and 27in; the Tournament 20in and 24in; the Shaver 20in and 24in; the C20, C24 and C34 grass maintenance systems; and the 42in BJB42 deep sacrifier with collection.

Privately-owned Turfmech began life as a provider of contract turf maintenance services before becoming a distributor of mowers, blowers and turf vacuums. From those early days, Turfmech Machinery has developed into a major equipment producer in its own right, manufacturing, marketing and supporting a product range specified and used by turf growers, groundsmen, course managers, greenkeepers, contractors and turf and grounds maintenance professionals throughout the British Isles and overseas. In 2007 the company acquired Allett Mowers.
