As the golf world hails a new champion of The Open at Carnoustie and in a move to encourage the next generation of golfers, a brand new digital version of the world famous course has been produced.

Golf simulation engineers Sports Coach Systems were commissioned to digitise the Championship Course after Carnoustie’s golf services manager Colin McLeod saw the simulators at the PGA Show in Orlando last January.

In keeping with the club's commitment to provide free tuition for children from Carnoustie, two secure bays in a planned new state-of-the-art coaching facility about 30 yards from the first tee have been earmarked to house the simulators, allowing juniors to play the course and undergo analysis whatever the weather or time of day.

In the longer term, the digital course will play a role in the course’s increasingly competitive future.

McLeod commented: “The course has not been digitised for this purpose before and it provides Carnoustie Golf Links with a more direct route to golfers throughout the world.

“The golfing market is continually evolving and with places like China, Poland, Malaysia, Turkey all becoming part of the global game, it is vital for everyone to be out there in people's minds and the Sports Coach facility enables our brand to be seen first hand to a global market."
