Under the contract, which runs for an initial three years, ID Data will supply CardBASE MASCOT and ChipPurse software systems, smart cards, card personalisation, fulfilment and issuing services together with support of all user terminals and call centre services for the edge card.

The company will also be providing consultancy services regarding development of the multi-application card which is said to be the first local authority smart card to offer cashless catering in four of the borough's secondary schools; library and leisure membership with e-purse; and a loyalty scheme within the borough's shopping areas.

Further applications which will help with the Council's aim of providing cost-effective service delivery are under consideration and - as part of the contract - ID Data may also be called upon to provide a managed service for one or more of 12 local authorities from the Thames Valley region through best practice procurement procedures adopted by Bracknell Forest Borough Council when tendering for the contract.
